CHINCOTEAGUE, Va.- The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company met its fundraising goal to purchase a new side-by-side, a vital tool in its pony rescue and management operations.
The campaign raised $24,819, surpassing its original $24,150 goal.
The fire company relies on its current Polaris for rescue and roundup efforts on Assateague Island, as well as search and rescue missions, beach rescues, and high-water emergencies.
“This vehicle has allowed us to save so many ponies and make our operations far more efficient,” the department shared. “We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of everyone who donated.”
The fire company plans to share updates and photos once the new side-by-side is in use.
