CoastTV News received 20 nominations from the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association, with recognition spanning reporting, production and overall newsroom performance

MILTON, Del. — CoastTV News received 20 nominations from the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association, with recognition spanning reporting, production and overall newsroom performance.

Across all divisions, which include radio, television and all market sizes, CoastTV was nominated for: Best Multi-Platform Storytelling — Torie Seagraves and Zoe Stayman on the “Deadly Dagsboro House Explosion.”

The station’s nominations in the Small Market TV division  include:

  • Outstanding Spot News Reporting — Kristina DeRobertis, Olivia Armstrong and Madeleine Overturf, “Perdue Hazmat”

  • Outstanding Coverage of a Continuing Story — Emma Aken and Matthew Hipsman, “Lewes Fire Department Scandal”

  • Best Producer — Olivia Armstrong

  • Best Specialty ReportingAna Sofia Roman, “Immigration”

  • Best Enterprise Reporting — Ana Sofia Roman and Ted Corriero, “Perdue Hazmat Worker Speaks Out”

  • Outstanding Serious Feature — Matt Pencek and Ted Corriero, “50 Years Since Vietnam”

  • Best Multimedia Journalist — Emma Aken; Brandon Ferguson

  • Outstanding Light Feature — Kristina DeRobertis and Ted Corriero, “Senator Tom Carper Bids Farewell”; Madeleine Overturf, Ted Corriero and Brandon Ferguson, “Chincoteague Pony Swim”

  • Best Reporter — Emma Aken; Brandon Ferguson

  • Outstanding Website — Torie Seagraves and Zoe Stayman

  • Outstanding Morning Newscast — Alyssa Baker, Matt Pencek and Grace Eckerle

  • Outstanding Late Newscast — Madeleine Overturf, Charlie Sokaitis and Paul Williams

  • Outstanding Weekend Newscast — Madeleine Overturf, Owen Lipka and Brandon Ferguson

  • Outstanding Political Coverage — Madeleine Overturf, Ted Corriero and Torie Seagraves, “Where is Stell Parker Selby?”

  • Best TV News Anchor — Madeleine Overturf

  • Outstanding News Operation — John Dearing, Madeleine Overturf and Torie Seagraves

CoastTV's sister stations, WBOC and Delmarva Sports Network, received 11 and five nominations respectively. 

Lasty year, CoastTV was nominated for 17 and won eight Associated Press awards including Outstanding News Operation, Outstanding News Series and more. The winners will be announced at the AP Awards Banquet in May in Ocean City.

Madeleine has been with Draper Media since 2016, when she first worked as Sussex County Bureau Chief. She helped launch the rebranded CoastTV in 2019. As co-anchor of CoastTV News at 5 and 6, Maddie helps organize the evening newscasts and performs managerial responsibilities such as helping find and assign stories, approving scripts, and making content decisions.
