DELAWARE – Delaware ranks first in the nation for hospital quality, according to the 2025 U.S. News & World Report “Best States” rankings released May 6. According to the Delaware Healthcare Association, the state rose from second place in 2024.
The rankings evaluate performance across 71 metrics in eight categories. DHA says Delaware also saw improvement in several other health-related categories, ranking fifth in health care quality and tenth in overall health care performance and access.
Hospital quality, the category in which Delaware ranked first, is measured by performance in treating and managing various medical conditions and procedures, including cancer surgeries, joint replacement and organ failure.
"Delaware hospitals are proud to be first in hospital quality. Our members innovate and invest in high-quality care daily in our goal to improve healthcare access and outcomes,” said Brian Frazee, President and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association.
