DELAWARE- The Delaware Office of Supplier Diversity has launched a new online portal to streamline the certification process for diverse and small businesses. The digital platform replaces the previous paper-based system, making it easier for businesses to apply for certification and update their information.

The Delaware Office of Supplier Diversity, a Delaware Division of Small Business division, supports economic opportunities for diverse and small businesses by offering certifications, advocacy, training and assistance in securing state contracts.

The agency says the new portal will improve data collection, allowing more accurate reporting on state-certified vendors.

Director Shavonne White emphasized that the portal responds directly to feedback from business owners who want a more efficient, automated process.

The portal will facilitate two types of certifications:

1. Diverse Business Certification, which includes Minority, Women, Veterans, Service-Disabled Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities-Owned Business Enterprises.

2. Small Business Focus Certification, which applies to businesses that meet specific size requirements.

According to the agency, obtaining certification can enhance a business's visibility with state agencies and private clients, increasing opportunities to secure contracts. At the end of fiscal year 2024, Delaware had 1,536 agency-certified vendors, including 1,035 diverse business vendors and 501 small business vendors.

The contract to develop and manage the online portal was awarded to Coolsoft, LLC, following a competitive bidding process. The project was implemented in partnership with Delaware’s Department of Technology and Information.
