Bayhealth and PAM Health Joining Forces To Expand Inpatient Rehabilitation Services In Kent & Sussex County

MILFORD, Del.- Teaming up to make rehab accessible.

Bayhealth Vice President of Operations Michael Ashton says PAM Health employees will work at the Sussex Campus to help with a variety of needs.

"For recovery of a stroke or an amputation or those types of ailments and medical conditions where they still need care to prepare them to be at home or independent," Ashton said.

Bayhealth employees will also go to PAM's Dover facility as part of the partnership.

"Post Acute Medical will assume that managing services agreement so it will continue to operate the way it does today from an in hospital structure," Ashton added. "The difference will be the joint venture relationship at both the Dover and the Georgetown facility."

Construction on the new Georgetown PAM facility is in full swing. Chief Executive Officer at the Dover location Ted Werner says that many Sussex patients travel north to receive treatment and this expansion should help lessen that travel.

"We really think that that's going to help in the recovery process," Werner said. "It's important to have family and friends support nearby. That makes a big difference in patients' recovery and it makes it a lot easier on those families."

The managing services agreement goes into effect January 1. The PAM Georgetown facility is expected to be ready for the spring.

The joint venture is already expanding healthcare before it officially starts.
