Effort to clarify dogs on the beach rule during the summer in Dewey Beach

Town officials in Dewey Beach say that Dewey is a dog friendly town, and they plan on keeping it that way. In the past, the town says there has been some confusion as to when dogs are allowed on the beach during the summer. In order to clarify the rules, the town says it is looking to possibly draft an ordinance that allows dogs to go on the beach during the summer when lifeguards are not present. The town says during the peak hours of the summer it is not safe to mix dogs with the large summer crowds and the heat.
