LEWES, Del. - The Lewes Public Library is accepting applications for two sessions of the "¡Hola, amigos!" Bilingual Summer Camp, designed for children from kindergarten through second grade.

The free camp will be led by professional bilingual educators Mauricio Salinas and Sheila Oquendo. It will run from July 14–17 and July 21–24, with each session lasting from 9 a.m. to noon.

The immersive day camp is intended for both native English-speaking and Spanish-speaking participants.

"We're going to do a hands-on experience where we integrate the arts—dancing, singing, music, painting—with the language," Salinas said. "We're going to incorporate that language through the arts."

Jennifer Noonan, Lewes Public Library children's librarian, said she is very excited to be hosting the summer camp.

"The library is not just about books. Of course, we have books, but this is really a place for our community to connect. It's a place where we can share our cultures, where we can learn about our cultures," Noonan said. "A library should be a place that has windows and mirrors for everybody. That means that, as a mirror, you'll be able to find something that reflects you. And for windows, you can see into somebody else's life or experience that you might never have imagined before."

Interested families are encouraged to apply for admission at the link here by April 30.
