GEORGETOWN, Del. - The Careers2Classrooms Initiative at Georgetown Middle School started at the beginning of September to bring professionals in various fields to speak to students enrolled in career and technical education classes.

On Friday afternoon, our CoastTV News and Telemundo Delmarva reporter Ana Sofia Román shared insights about a career in journalism with the school's eighth graders.

George Schwendtner, teacher at Georgetown Middle School, aims to provide students with real-life experiences they may not usually get.

"One of the biggest things is we have so many industries here; the area is growing, so students don't know what they don't know," Schwendtner said. "So, by bringing in careers, students are able to see what they're learning in the classroom could apply to a career that maybe is of interest to them and then talk to people that are experts in those fields, find out salaries, find out pros and cons of the jobs and responsibilities."

For those interested in speaking to students at Georgetown Middle School about their career experiences, don't hesitate to get in touch with the school directly at 302-856-1900 and ask for George Schwendtner or email him at george.schwendtner@irsd.k12.de.us.
