DELAWARE — Julianne Murray, chair of the Delaware Republican Party and the managing partner with the Georgetown based law firm of Murray, Phillips, and Gay, has been tabbed to serve as the next U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware. CoastTV received confirmation of the nomination from the Executive Director of the Delaware Republican Party Nick Miles.
Murray would succeed David Weiss, who was appointed to the post in 2018 under President Trump and resigned the position in January. Weiss was the special counsel who prosecuted former President Joe Biden's son. It resulted in Hunter Biden receiving a guilty verdict on gun-related charges in Delaware.
The U.S. Attorney for Delaware oversees a range of responsibilities, including prosecuting federal criminal cases, representing the federal government in civil litigation, and enforcing federal laws and regulations across the state.
