Route 16

The Delaware Department of Transportation will close Route 16 between Double Fork Road and Todds Chapel Road from Monday, May 12, through Thursday, May 15, weather permitting.

GREENWOOD, Del. – Drivers in Kent and Sussex counties should prepare for a temporary closure of a portion of Hickman Road next week due to roadwork.

The Delaware Department of Transportation will close Route 16 between Double Fork Road and Todds Chapel Road from Monday, May 12, through Thursday, May 15, weather permitting. The closure is needed to replace a crossroad pipe.

A signed detour will be in place during the roadwork:

  • Westbound drivers will turn left onto Blanchard Road, then right onto Woodenhawk Road, and right again onto Double Fork Road to return to Hickman Road

  • Eastbound drivers will turn right onto Double Fork Road, then left onto Woodenhawk Road, followed by a left onto Blanchard Road to return to Hickman Road

Drivers are urged to allow extra time and follow posted signs during the detour.
