GEORGETOWN, Del. - Schools across the Indian River School District will hold open houses in September, giving students and families an opportunity to meet teachers and staff before and during the start of the 2026-27 school year.
Families will also be able to view class lists and tour school buildings. Several schools are offering multiple sessions organized by grade level.
The school year begins Tuesday, Sept. 8, for students in kindergarten and grades 6 and 9, as well as students at Howard T. Ennis School, excluding preschool.
Students in grades 1-5, 7-8 and 10-12 will begin classes Wednesday, Sept. 9. Preschool programs, including preschool at Howard T. Ennis School, begin Wednesday, Sept. 16.

- Southern Delaware School of the Arts, grades K-5: 5-6 p.m.
- Sussex Central High School, all grades: 5-6:30 p.m.
- Howard T. Ennis School, kindergarten-STEP: 5-6 p.m.

- Southern Delaware School of the Arts, grades 6-8: 6-7 p.m.
