REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced that Kate VanVorst has been selected as the organization’s next president and chief executive officer.

VanVorst has been part of the chamber for most of the past 15 years. She has previously served as the event coordinator and chamber membership representative. She also has a bachelor’s and master’s in hospitality and tourism management from the University of South Carolina.

VanVorst will be taking over the position from Carol Everhart, a leading figure in southern Delaware's beach towns, who has been with the organization for over three decades. Everhart's dedication to local businesses has helped shape the chamber into a trusted and vital advocate for business, tourism and community life in the coastal region.

The board launched an extensive nationwide search after Everhart's retirement announcement in July, leading to VanVorst being chosen over more than 70 applicants and a series of remote and in-person interviews.

“Kate interviewed exceptionally well and impressed us with her desire to move the chamber forward through innovative technological ideas that will better serve our members,” said Susan Wood, president of the board. She will start in this new role on Jan. 1, 2026.
