MILFORD, Del. – A $6,000 grant has been awarded to the Milford Advocacy for the Homeless, Inc. to support its “Harvest Hub: Nutrition for All program.”
Milford Advocacy for the Homeless states that the grant from the Burke & Herbert Bank Foundation will support the Harvest Hub program. The organization says the program is an initiative dedicated to alleviating hunger and promoting better nutrition among low-income and underserved populations in the Milford area.
The nonprofit says Harvest Hub provides fresh, balanced meals and emergency food assistance, along with educational opportunities that teach families how to prepare healthy meals on a budget.
According to the organization, the $6,000 grant will be used for the following:
- Purchasing fresh produce
- Supply meals for dinner service and Power Pak bags
- Distribute emergency food boxes
- Community workshops on healthy, budget-friendly eating
- Cover transportation and storage expenses
“Our vision is a future where every individual has the peace of mind that comes with knowing they have enough to eat and a path to stability,” said Martha Gery, Founder and President of Milford Advocacy for the Homeless. “This grant brings us closer to that future.”
Milford Advocacy for the Homeless says it will continue to measure the program through data analysis by tracking the number of meals served, shifts in demographics and community health outcomes.
