ANGOLA, Del. - Delaware State Police are investigating a deadly crash that killed a Millsboro man early Friday morning near Angola.

According to police, the crash happened at around 5:52 a.m. on May 16. A Nissan Sentra was driving south on Hollymount Road, north of John J. Williams Highway, when it veered off its lane for unknown reasons. The car crossed into the northbound shoulder, where it struck a parked commercial flatbed trailer.

The force of the crash pushed that trailer into a second trailer, also parked nearby. Both trailers were partially on the northbound shoulder and partially in the grass. Orange reflective traffic cones had been set up near the trailers.

The driver of the Sentra, a 48-year-old man from Millsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, as police are still notifying his family.

Hollymount Road was shut down for about three and a half hours as troopers investigated and cleared the scene.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact Senior Corporal J. Smith at (302) 703-3267.
