Ocean access had been restricted to ankle depth on both Friday and Saturday due to hazardous conditions. Despite the restrictions, the three girls entered the water between lifeguard stands.

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Due to Tropical Storm Debby heading towards the coast, the Ocean City Beach Patrol has changed their surfing restrictions. Only for Aug. 8, surfing is allowed on the beach.

The Beach Patrol states that surfers must wear a leash. They also recommend that surfers grant right of way and they must remain more than 50 yards from the nearest swimmers. If swimmers are not 50 yards away, surfers must relocate.

Skimboards, kite surfers, windsurfers, kayaks and stand up paddleboards are prohibited and remain until stated otherwise.
