Officials investigating incendiary fire at Hebron home

HEBRON, Md. - A fire broke out around 3:59 a.m. Sunday, May 26, at an empty home in the 300 block of Chestnut Street in Hebron, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The three-story, single-family house was unoccupied at the time. It is owned by Phillipe Amisial and no injuries were reported.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire began inside the home and caused an estimated $40,000 in damage to the structure. The home did not have any working smoke alarms, fire alarms or sprinkler systems, according to the agency.

A neighbor discovered the fire, and the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department responded with 47 firefighters. The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes.

According to officials, the preliminary cause of the fire has been ruled incendiary.
