ROAD WORK

DEWEY BEACH, Del. — Residents in Dewey Beach looking forward to smoother roads this spring will have to wait, as the Delaware Department of Transportation (DELDOT) announced the postponement of a long-awaited paving project until this fall.

The delay is due to the unavailability of the paving contractor, who could not start and finish the work by the originally planned deadline of May 1. DELDOT now aims to reschedule the road work to begin after Oct. 1.

The project will impact the second block of Chesapeake Street, extending to Bellevue Street and Bayard Avenue. DELDOT will place 'No Parking' signs in the affected areas a day before paving starts.

Officials are reminding the public that the project is managed by DELDOT and not by the town of Dewey Beach. Residents with questions or concerns are advised to contact the agency directly.

The town looks forward to the improvements the new pavement will bring, enhancing the infrastructure in one of its key areas.
