DELMARVA - FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission have announced a national test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System. It will send a notification to your phone at around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
FEMA says that the test will reach millions of mobile phones across the country as long as they are within range of an active cell phone tower from a participating wireless provider.
Officials say that the wireless emergency alert will broadcast for 30 minutes, but phones should only receive the alert once. They say the test will include both a vibration and alert tones.
According to FEMA, the back-up date for testing is Oct. 11.
