Proposed Cannery Village apartment complex gets preliminary approval

MILTON, Del.- An apartment complex proposed for Cave Neck road and Front Street has received preliminary site plan approval.

The complex is planned to have 96 apartments- and is a part of the third phase of expansion for the already existing Cannery Village neighborhood.

The Milton planning and zoning commission approved the developer's site plans on the conditions that more security lighting is added behind the four three story apartment buildings and that a licensed landscaping architect is involved with the planning and designing.

This is only one of the numerous large developments that are proposed for Milton.

Here is a list for developments planned for the small town:

  • Heritage Creek Phase 1: 58 –Single Family homes. This neighborhood will have a 55 and over restriction.
  • Heritage Creek Phase 9A: 9 homes
  • Heritage Creek Phase 9B: 23 homes
  • Cannery Village Phase 4: 116 homes
  • Cypress Grove: 240 Apartments, which is currently under construction
  • Granary: 1350 homes, which would be built over a twenty year period.

There are other proposed housing developments in the works as well, including Scarlett Oaks on Route 5- but that development is still waiting to be approved.

As for the 96 apartments, the expansion still needs other approvals before any ground can be broken.
