While the big ball dropped in New York City's Times Square ushering in the start of 2024, the coast had its own traditions to celebrate the start of the New Year.

In Lewes, people watched the 13th annual Anchor Drop. An anchor covered in white lights was lowered from atop the Lightship Overfalls on Pilottown Road.

Fireworks lit up the sky in Ocean City.

Several of the coast's popular night clubs held parties counting down the final moments of 2023.

On Monday, the Atlantic Ocean will see some winter swimmers, The 19th annual Fenwick Freeze polar plunge will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Bayard Street Beach.
