CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A 23-year-old man from Seaford, was shot and killed Sunday evening in Cambridge, and police say the search is underway for the accused shooter and several potential accomplices.
According to the Cambridge Police Department, officers and detectives responded to the 900 block of Camelia Street around 8:33 p.m. on June 8 after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Alyson Elien lying outside of a car in a driveway with a gunshot wound to the head.
Officers attempted life-saving measures until Dorchester County EMS arrived and transported Elien to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge. Elien was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A handgun and additional evidence were recovered at the scene. Through the use of nearby camera systems, detectives identified a suspect. Criminal charges are in progress, and the person is currently being sought. Investigators are also working to identify several others who may have been involved.
Police said video footage showed the suspects surrounding Elien after the shooting, but no one offered assistance. Instead, some were seen going through the car and appearing to take items from the victim.
The department is urging anyone with information to contact its Criminal Investigation Division at 410-228-3333.
