Seminar aims to help Bethany Beach businesses curb shoplifting

BETHANY BEACH, Del. — According to the Bethany Beach Police Department, shoplifting incidents and arrests typically rise during the summer season. In response, the department is offering a seminar to help local business owners prevent theft.

Sgt. Scharp will lead a Shoplifting Prevention Seminar at 9 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Bethany Beach Town Hall. The event is free and open to local business owners and their employees.

Participants will learn how to identify common suspect characteristics based on previous shoplifting incidents in Bethany Beach. The session will also cover employee prevention strategies and explain the judicial process following an arrest.

The department hopes the seminar will help strengthen security and reduce theft across the business community.
