Sussex County, Del.- Severe flooding hit parts of Bethany Beach and Ocean View around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, leaving locals stunned by rising water on main roads and side streets.

Photos shared by people there show Atlantic Ave and surrounding roads completely covered by water. Some said they had “never seen it this bad,” as rain overwhelmed drainage systems and forced drivers to navigate deep standing water.

No major crashes or reports of people hurt had been confirmed, but emergency crews monitored the situation and urged drivers to avoid flooded areas.
