OCEAN CITY, Md. - The final day of Ocean City's Sunfest kicked off on Sunday, and the boardwalk was filled with festival goers. Restaurants in town are thankful Ocean City is hosting events after the summer season because it helps bring in business when the beach season slows down.
Wendey Dibuo, the owner of Crawl Street Tavern, located on Wicomico Street in Ocean City, told CoastTV, "We appreciate the festival this time of year because this is our shoulder season, so this is a big help."
Dibou said she knows other restaurant and business owners in Ocean City are happy with how all of the festivals held by the town have impacted their businesses.
Crowds could be seen over the weekend, not only enjoying the entertainment of Sunfest, but also going into stores and restaurants all along the boardwalk. One ice cream shop on the boardwalk explained they are happy they chose to also serve hot drinks because they were a popular spot for cold festival goers this weekend.
"There was a line out the door and people were only ordering coffee and tea", explained Elen Hovsepyan, owner of Sweet Shore Ice Cream.
Hovsepyan's shop closes just before Thanksgiving, so she said getting extra business in October helps give her piece of mind before closing for the winter.
