DELAWARE- Thousands of drivers are taking to the road for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Triple A is forecasting over 130,000 Delaware drivers on the road throughout the week.
"That represents more than 91 percent of all Delawareans traveling. That's up just under 2 percent year over year," said Jana Tidwell with Triple A.
Tidwell said that over 10,000 Delawareans are also anticipated to fly this week as well. These numbers are similar to pre-pandemic numbers.Â
The busiest travel day is expected to be Wednesday, followed by Sunday. Tidwell says planning around peak commute hours can save a big headache for drivers.
Delaware State Police say they are keeping an eye out for impaired drivers this weekend, and are asking everyone to wear their seatbelts, go slow and to not text and drive. Tidwell also stressed the importance of not drinking and driving during holiday festivities.Â
