Hundreds in Sussex County spent their Sunday honoring a fallen hero.
The Back the Blue drive-through memorial honoring fallen Delaware State Police Cpl. Matthew Ty Snook has been moved to the Georgetown DMV due to icy conditions and will be held Feb. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Organizers say the Jan. 18 event in Milton will serve as another chance for people in Sussex County and nearby communities to come together in solidarity with law enforcement and to show compassion to the Snook family.
Organizers also announced plans to order additional memorial stickers due to continued demand and said they hope to hold another event in the lower part of the state.
Organizers said the stickers allow the community to publicly show support for Snook’s family while honoring his service and sacrifice.
The seventh annual “Back the Blue” caravan starting rolling through Sussex County this week, with community members coming together to show appreciation for local law enforcement across three major roadways.
The Delmar community and beyond celebrated Heacook Fest over the weekend, starting off with a street sign dedication to Corporal Heacook.
