The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold a special meeting to discuss proposed pedestrian-safety improvements along Delaware Route 26. The council is expected to discuss and consider two contracts with the Delaware Department of Transportation.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $9.6 million contract to dredge the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal. The project will remove about 90,000 cubic yards of sediment from the canal, stretching from the Freeman Highway Bridge south to its entrance at Rehoboth Bay.

The property at 32490 Lewes Georgetown Highway was, at one point, purchased by the Immanuel Shelter with the intentions of homing the next shelter for the homeless. However, the nonprofit, now named The Lighthouse for Broken Wings, has decided to sell the property and establish a shelter elsewhere in the area.
