High Pressure Dominates

DELMARVA-- Tonight, high pressure will prevail over the Delmarva region, bringing mostly clear skies with a few patches of clouds. With lower dew points and lighter winds, radiational cooling will occur, especially in rural locations away from water sources. Expect overnight lows to range from the 50s to low 60s.

Keep an eye to the skies overnight with the peak of the Perseids Meteor Shower, could see up to 100 meteors an hour. The best chance would be after 2 A.M.

Perseid Meteor Shower

As we head into Monday, the day will start off mostly sunny across the entire region. Highs in the low to mid 80s and at the coast looking at highs in the mid to upper 70s. Winds will shift to the west-northwest and increase slightly, with gusts above 20 mph possible in the afternoon.  If you picked this week to vacation, you picked a great week.

As we move into Monday night and beyond, weak surface high pressure will build in from the west, influencing the weather through midweek. Despite several upper-level shortwave troughs passing through the region, the high pressure should keep conditions mostly dry.

We should remain relatively dry for the week with the next chance of rain not arriving until next weekend.

Keeping an eye on the tropics as we could have the develop of what will be Tropical Storm Ernesto in the coming days.  Still uncertainties as to where this system will track late week into early next week.
