DELMARVA- A cold front pushed through Delmarva this morning bringing colder, drier, and windy conditions to Delmarva.

Temperatures struggle to climb through the 40s this afternoon, with wind chills stuck in the 30s thanks to gusty northwest winds reaching 35–40 mph in gusts at times. While not expected to meet wind advisory criteria, the combination of soggy ground and strong gusts may cause isolated tree damage or power outages. Winds start to die down later this afternoon into this evening.

FREEZE WARNING

Overnight, high pressure slides closer to Delmarva, meaning lighter winds and falling temperatures. Make sure to bring in your tender plants this evening. By early Wednesday morning, lows across Delmarva will dip into the mid 20s to near 30 degrees, resulting in the first widespread freeze of the season. Though winds will ease overnight, wind chills could fall near 20 degrees in many spots. Gardeners should monitor forecasts closely, with the risk of a frost and freeze.

TEMPS

While skies turn sunny again on Wednesday, temperatures will remain cool for this time of year. Afternoon highs will peak in the 40s to near 50 degrees with continued west-northwest winds around 10–15 mph. The air mass will start to moderate late in the day, but the chill will linger.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

Wednesday night will be mainly clear and cold once again, with lows in the 30s and lower 40s. Be prepared to cover your plants with a frost possible to start the day.

On Thursday, high pressure will slide offshore and winds will begin shifting to the south. This change will usher in a more moisture-laden air mass, with increasing clouds and slightly warmer temperatures in the mid to upper 50s.

Showers increase into Thursday night with lows in the 40s.

RAINY FRIDAY

Forecast models suggest a low pressure system could amplify and stall, potentially becoming a nor’easter near the Mid-Atlantic coastline by Saturday morning. If that happens, widespread rain and gusty winds could impact the region Friday through Saturday. Current projections indicate rain chances between 40 percent and 60 percent, with the system likely exiting by Sunday. However, forecast confidence remains low this far out.
