BETHANY BEACH, Del. — Nearly 2,000 cyclists are expected to take to the streets this weekend as the annual Ocean to Bay Bike Tour rolls through Sussex County.

The two-day event kicks off Friday, May 2, and continues through Saturday, May 3, offering a scenic ride through the coastal towns of Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, Ocean View and other communities.

Presented by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, the Ocean to Bay Bike Tour includes 30-, 50-, metric century and century routes, all on flat terrain to accommodate cyclists of all skill levels. Riders also have the option to participate in a 10-mile Coastal Cruise at any time during the weekend. Proceeds from that portion of the tour benefit the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays.

Chamber officials say the highest volume of bike traffic is expected Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon. Motorists are advised to use caution during that time.
