DOVER, Del. - "All gave some... some gave all." These words mark the center of a newly-completed mural on Route 1 honoring United States service members. The patriotic mural, which is painted on a bridge crossing over the highway near the Dover Air Force Base, depicts stars and stripes in red, white and blue.

Painting began the first week of October. The project was completed by Wilmington resident Christian Kanienberg from Wish Unlimited, a painting and sculpting company based upstate.

"This mural is the [Delaware Department of Transportation's] way of showing appreciation to our service members past and present and honoring the life of Elizabeth Loncki, for whom the bridge was dedicated in 2018," said Secretary of Transportation Nicole Majeski. "On behalf of the department, we thank all who served and wish all a happy Veterans Day."

Senior Airman Loncki was a Delaware native who died in 2007 at age 23. Her explosive ordinance disposal team was targeted by a car bomber near Baghdad.
