MILFORD, Del. - Two aging bridges in Milford are set to be replaced as part of an upcoming infrastructure project.
On Tuesday, the Delaware Department of Transportation held a public workshop to answer questions and address concerns about the planned construction. Bridge 2-503 on Maple Avenue and Bridge 2-504 on South West Front Street will be removed and replaced with new structures.

Some people who live in Milford expressed relief about the replacements, saying the aging bridges have become potential safety hazards. Henry Young, who grew up in Milford and still returns to fish near Bridge 2-504, said he has noticed visible signs of wear.
“If this bridge happened, it totally collapsed, which if you had a picture of this, you can see cracking all over the place,” Young said. “This bridge has been here ever since I was born, and I'm 64 years old, so, you know, it’s about time for another one.”
DelDOT has opened a seven-day survey period to collect feedback from the public. The survey is currently available and will close Tuesday, June 17.
