Planning is underway in Georgetown as the America 250 Committee prepares for an Artisan and Crafts Festival on June 13 to celebrate 250 years of American independence.

Georgetown faced winter weather challenges with snow, sleet, and ice, requiring focused efforts from both Public Safety and DelDOT to clear residential streets and major highways, utilizing salt for safe travel conditions.

Friends, family and local police gathered Monday to honor Officer Chad Spicer, who was killed in the line of duty on September 1, 2009.

The Georgetown community will gather today for a wreath-laying ceremony honoring fallen Georgetown Police Department Officer Chad Spicer. This year’s remembrance comes as the town continues discussion over plans of restoring Spicer’s memorial. 

The meeting will be held at the Town Hall. The committee was formed to generate ideas on how to increase safety on and around the circle

The memorials currently sit on the Georgetown circle. The meeting will discuss whether they will be left on the circle or moved when the new Georgetown Police Department is built. 

The Sussex County community gathered to honor the memory of Georgetown Police Officer Chad Spicer, who was killed in the line of duty in 2009, with a wreath laying ceremony at his memorial at Georgetown Circle. Despite a recent crash into the structure, the community remains committed to preserving Spicer's legacy and improving safety at Georgetown Circle.

After a string of car crashes, where rouge cars crashed directly into the Georgetown circle, the town has formed a committee to try and find solutions to solve this problem.

Ahead of International Overdose Awareness Day, one organization brought the community together to remember the lives lost to overdose.
