SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for southeastern Sussex County until 7:45 p.m. Monday as power outages are reported across parts of southern Delaware.
As of 7:30 p.m., nearly 90 Delaware Electric Cooperative customers were experiencing power outages between Laurel and Gumboro. At 7:48 p.m., that number has lowered to 54 customers for Laurel.
Delmarva Power reported six outages affecting 135 customers from the Dagsboro area to Selbyville as of 7:30 p.m. Another 17 Delmarva Power customers near Bridgeville were experiencing outages. At 7:48 p.m., that number has lowered to 17 customers for Bridgeville and possibly 221 customers in the Dagsboro area.
The outages come as severe thunderstorms move through the region Monday evening. CoastTV Meteorologist Paul Williams encourages people to remain alert for changing weather conditions and seek shelter indoors during severe thunderstorms.
