DELMARVA - Beach towns along Sussex County’s coast, from Lewes to Fenwick Island, and stretching to Ocean City, Maryland, will enjoy a quiet weather pattern through Wednesday, with high pressure keeping skies mostly clear and winds light. However, changes are on the horizon as a system approaches later in the week.
Tuesday night will be cool and calm with temperatures dipping into the low 40s along the coast. Inland areas may see upper 30s, thanks to clear skies and light winds allowing for radiational cooling.
Wednesday starts bright with plenty of sunshine, but high clouds will gradually filter in during the afternoon as high pressure shifts offshore. Coastal temperatures will remain in the mid-to-upper 50s, while areas further inland could reach the upper 60s. A southeasterly breeze off the ocean will keep the beaches cooler, reinforcing the marine influence.
By Wednesday night, cloud cover will thicken as moisture increases ahead of an approaching cold front. A light onshore flow may bring patchy fog and drizzle to the coastal communities overnight into early Thursday morning, keeping lows in the 40s.
The late-week system will bring more noticeable changes, with rain arriving Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. Behind it, gusty winds and a cooldown will set the stage for a blustery end to the week.
