Storyline

Spectacular Sunday on Delmarva, will continue the sunny dry theme into Monday and Tuesday before unsettled weather moves back in.

DELMARVA -- Get ready for a postcard-perfect Sunday across the peninsula, as Delmarva basks in wall-to-wall sunshine and mild temperatures.

Inland temperatures are expected to climb into the mid to upper 70s, ranging from 75 to 81 degrees. Along the coast, highs will remain comfortable between 72 and 77 degrees. Breezy west winds will add a refreshing touch, with gusts reaching 25 to 35 mph throughout the day.

Along The Coast

Plenty of sunshine and low humidity along the coast Sunday.

A secondary cold front will sweep through the region Sunday night, reinforcing the cool and dry air already in place. As high pressure builds in from Canada, it will extend its influence across Delmarva through Tuesday, delivering a stretch of clear, calm, and seasonable weather.

Monday will continue the trend, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid-70s. Winds may remain gusty into Monday morning — up to 30 mph — before easing Monday night into Tuesday. Overnight lows will dip into the 40s and 50s, offering a true autumnal feel across the region. Tuesday will bring a mix of 60s and 70s for highs with lighter winds and continued dry conditions.

However, the quiet weather won’t last all week. By Tuesday night, attention turns to a powerful weather system developing over the northern Great Lakes. As the upper-level trough deepens and gains energy, a coastal low is expected to form off the Mid-Atlantic coast by Wednesday night.

5-Day Precipitation Chances

A potential coastal storm could impact Delmarva midweek.

Rain chances will rise significantly by midweek, with showers likely beginning Tuesday night and continuing through Thursday. Some rain could be heavy at times, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday. Forecast guidance now indicates a 50 to 80 percent chance of rain during this stretch. While shower activity may diminish slightly by Thursday night into Friday, scattered precipitation is still expected to linger under the influence of a persistent upper-level low.

Temperatures will trend below normal through the second half of the week, with daytime highs falling and overnight lows remaining cool.
