New parking fees go into effect today at all Delaware State Parks as DNREC marks its 75th anniversary.

The Shine a Light series continues with an interview with the director of DNREC's Division of Parks and Recreation, Matthew Ritter on Jan. 29., at the Lewes Public Library from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. 

For nearly two years, Deauville Beach in Rehoboth Beach has been under the control of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, which owns the property. During the Jan. 5 mayor and commissioners meeting, Commissioner Chris Galanty said he would like the city to discuss trying to resume control of Deauville Beach at a future meeting.

DNREC will hold an open house Wednesday evening at Cape Henlopen State Park to gather public input on proposed fee increases for state park daily entrance, annual and lifetime passes.

DNREC is proposing entrance and pass fee increases for Delaware State Parks for the first time since 2015.

All drive-on surf fishing crossings remain closed at Delaware Seashore and Fenwick Island state parks, with water access limited due to hazardous surf and rip currents.

DNREC invited photographers of all ages and backgrounds to submit standout images that capture the state’s natural beauty. A panel of judges scored entries based on visual effectiveness, originality, universal appeal and thematic relevance.

The Milford Museum will host a free program on Pickett’s Charge at the Milford Public Library on Saturday, July 12 at 1 p.m.

DNREC says all three are responsible for the daily operations and supervision of their respective parks.
