DELMARVA - Rain will settle in across coastal Sussex County late Friday evening as a coastal low pressure system drifts northward along the East Coast. This system is expected to bring widespread precipitation overnight into Saturday morning, followed by a gradual tapering through Saturday evening.
Showers will be most persistent and widespread late Friday night into early Saturday, with intermittent rain likely throughout the day. As the low moves further offshore by Saturday night, rain chances will diminish. Despite occasional breaks, persistent cloud cover will keep temperatures relatively steady, ranging from the upper 30s to mid-40s throughout the period.
Though most of the snowfall associated with this system will remain to the north, any mention of snow will stay well north of Sussex County. Precipitation here will remain in the form of rain. Rainfall totals are expected between 0.5 and 1.25 inches, with no significant flooding concerns at this time. Urban and poor-drainage areas should be watched for isolated ponding.
By Saturday evening, the low will gradually pull away, making room for high pressure to begin nudging into the region. Winds may remain breezy at times but will start to ease overnight into Sunday. A brighter and slightly milder day is anticipated Sunday, with lingering clouds giving way to occasional sun as the high builds over the area.
