Summer Solstice

Summer officially arrives at 10:42 PM tonight.

DELMARVA- The rest of Friday is shaping up to be a beautiful, with abundant sunshine, lower humidity, and cooler air.  Expect highs in the low to mid 80s with dew points near 60, making it feel much more comfortable. A gentle northwest breeze will keep conditions pleasant throughout the day.

Heatwave set to begin this weekend into next week. 

Summer officially arrives later this evening with clear and quiet conditions. Friday night remains quiet and clear, with lows ranging in the 60s.

The weekend begins on a tranquil note. Early Saturday morning temperatures will be in the 60s under mostly clear skies. High pressure remains firmly in control, setting the stage for a dry, mostly sunny Saturday. Temperatures will rebound into the 80s to near 90, with humidity levels staying manageable.

After a brief break from the humidity the next two days, mugginess returns Sunday and into next week.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

As the weekend goes on, humidity levels will start to creep, especially Sunday. Highs will be in the low 90s, with heat indices in the mid 90s.

Our first major heatwave of the summer season is expected early next week. A large area of high pressure will settle across the eastern third of the country, and create a heat dome. Daytime highs will be well into the 90s, with triple digit heat indices for several days. 

Dangerous Heat

An extended stretch of heat and humidity is set to move into the eastern half of the U.S. next week.

Make sure your cooling system is in good conditions and have plenty of water on hand  for the hot weather ahead.

Meteorologist Bob Trihy joined CoastTV in 2023. He grew up in Great River on Long Island, N.Y. Bob caught the weather bug when he was around eight years old and tracked storms up and down the east coast. He witnessed some big ones, like the blizzard of 1978, as well as tropical systems.
