Worcester County is urging people planning to visit Assateague Island National Seashore over the holiday weekend to use extreme caution since there are currently no lifeguards on duty.
Cape Henlopen State Park has reopened the Gordons Pond and Junction and Breakwater trails following a temporary closure due to debris and snow from last month’s winter storm.
DNREC will launch its annual auction of low-digit surf fishing tags starting Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 9 a.m.
The Gordons Pond trail in Cape Henlopen State Park will be closed on Oct. 1 for routine maintenance and is expected to reopen that evening.
Delaware State Parks are offering an old-fashioned way to enjoy the state’s autumn beauty with wagon rides through meadows, forests and farmland.
Cape Henlopen says all of its drive on surf crossings are open for Labor Day weekend. This comes after Hurricane Erin brought rough surf and dangerous rip currents, closing many beaches up and down Delmarva’s coast.
Despite beach closures due to what DRNEC calls unsafe conditions, some people at Cape Henlopen State Park were still seen entering the water on Friday.
The event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required.
DNREC is reminding visitors that entrance fees for Delaware State Parks will be in effect from March 1 through Nov. 30.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has received approval from the Board of Public Works to purchase 445 acres of land along Wetipquin Creek, paving the way for Wicomico County’s first state park.
