DELMARVA - Tuesday starts on a cloudy and muggy note as the same unsettled pattern that brought heavy rain nearby Monday evening remains in place.

A few showers are possible early in the day, with additional scattered showers and thunderstorms developing at times through Tuesday afternoon and evening. Highs are expected to reach the low 80s, with plenty of humidity making it feel damp and summerlike.

The main concern with any storm will be brief heavy rain. While Sussex County was not the focus of Monday evening’s flash flood warning west of Delaware, storms in this pattern can still produce quick downpours, ponding on roads and poor visibility for drivers.

Showers may linger into Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning before conditions slowly improve. Lows will fall into the upper 60s to near 70, with clouds and muggy air holding on overnight. By Wednesday, the area should begin to see some breaks of sunshine, though a few morning showers cannot be ruled out.
