DELMARVA - The day will begin with mostly clear skies and mild temperatures ranging from the mid to upper 60s inland to the low 70s along the coast. A light breeze from the west and lower dew points will make for a comfortable start. Sunshine will dominate much of the morning, with increasing warmth by midday.

Saturday Afternoon:
High pressure remains in control through the day, keeping skies mostly sunny. Highs will climb into the upper 80s to near 90°F inland, while coastal areas should stay in the low to mid 80s thanks to a developing sea breeze. While temperatures will rise, dew points in the mid 60s should prevent extreme discomfort. No rain is expected across Sussex County, although a weak surface trough may increase clouds slightly toward sunset.

Saturday Night into Sunday Morning:
Winds will shift to the southwest Saturday night, pulling in more humid air from the south. Overnight lows will be noticeably warmer, ranging from the upper 60s inland to low 70s along the coast. Humidity levels will climb steadily through the night, setting the stage for a muggy and very warm Sunday morning.

By sunrise Sunday, conditions will already feel summerlike. Temperatures will start in the low to mid 70s, with dew points approaching 70°F — a clear signal that a heat wave is about to begin. Skies will remain clear to partly cloudy, and the air will feel increasingly oppressive, even in the early hours.

Outlook for Sunday:
Sunday is expected to mark the beginning of a prolonged heat wave. The National Weather Service has extended its Extreme Heat Watch to include Sunday, citing heat index values approaching 100°F inland. Residents are urged to take precautions as the day progresses, including limiting outdoor activities and staying hydrated.
