DELMARVA - Sussex County and surrounding coastal areas will experience clear skies and chilly conditions late Wednesday into Thursday morning, with inland lows dipping into the mid to upper 20s and low 30s near the coast and urban centers. High pressure is in control, moving slowly offshore by Friday and maintaining generally dry weather through the start of the weekend.
Thursday will bring mostly sunny skies across inland Sussex, the beach towns, and Ocean City, with daytime highs in the mid to upper 50s. Light westerly breezes may gust up to 25 mph, but otherwise, it will be a calm, seasonable day.
By Thursday night, temperatures will be about 10 degrees warmer than the night prior, with lows ranging from the mid 30s to low 40s. The high pressure system will continue sliding offshore, ushering in a warming trend ahead of a warm front expected to lift north late Friday.
Friday will be milder, with inland areas reaching the low to mid 60s. However, beach towns and bayside locations will remain cooler, as water temperatures in the mid to upper 40s suppress afternoon highs.
A chance for showers returns Friday night with scattered rain possible through the weekend. Despite the clouds, temperatures will remain above average, with highs reaching into the 70s for much of the region Saturday and Sunday.
