DELMARVA -- A magnificent Monday is underway across Delmarva as high pressure gradually builds toward the region, bringing plenty of pleasant weather to start the new week.
High temperatures today will reach the low to mid-80s across much of the peninsula. Humidity levels will remain comfortable, making for a pleasant late-August afternoon. Can't rule out a brief isolated shower, best chance would be north of Delmarva. Most will stay dry, sunny and pleasant.
Mostly sunny skies, ever so slightest chance of an isolated shower/sprinkle. Highs in the low to mid 80s.
Tonight will bring a noticeable hint of fall. Skies will remain mainly clear as temperatures drop into the upper 50s across some inland communities away from the coast. Lower 60s elsewhere. Coastal locations will remain somewhat milder.
Taste of fall overnight into Tuesday morning as areas dip into the 50s away from the coast.
High pressure will continue building into the region Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will be in the mid 80s with comfortable humidity levels. Most of Delmarva should remain dry, although an isolated afternoon shower cannot be completely ruled out Tuesday. The better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms associated with an upper-level disturbance is expected to remain north of the peninsula.
Lot's of sunshine and comfortable humidity levels through midweek.
Wednesday is expected to remain largely quiet and comfortable as high pressure settles closer to the region.
Changes arrive Thursday as high pressure moves offshore and a warm front crosses the area. Southerly winds will bring warmer and more humid air back to Delmarva, with dew points climbing into the lower 70s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms could develop Thursday as the warm front moves through.
Another round of unsettled weather is possible Friday into Saturday as a cold front approaches Delmarva. Showers and thunderstorms will become possible again, although the exact timing of the front remains uncertain.
That timing will play an important role in determining whether any storms could become strong or produce locally heavy rainfall. Those details should become clearer as the end of the week approaches.
For now, Delmarva can enjoy a beautiful beginning to the week, including one of the coolest nights the region has experienced in some time.
