DELMARVA - Residents can expect improving weather conditions midweek as a weak low-pressure system exits the region and high pressure begins to take control.
Wednesday morning may start off with lingering clouds and patchy light rain, especially across southern portions of the Peninsula. However, any precipitation will taper off before sunrise, allowing for clearing skies during the morning hours. Sunshine will be short-lived as an upper-level disturbance brings increasing clouds again by Wednesday afternoon. A few isolated showers may return north of Delmarva later in the day, but the Peninsula itself is expected to remain dry.
Temperatures will be seasonable, with highs reaching into the low to mid-50s across Delmarva. Breezy conditions may develop during the afternoon as low pressure strengthens offshore.
By Wednesday night, skies will begin to clear and temperatures will dip into the upper 20s and low 30s across much of the region, bringing a crisp and colder night.
Thursday will feature dry weather and a mix of sun and clouds as high pressure settles in from the west. Afternoon highs will again reach the 50s, with lighter winds and pleasant, though cool, conditions. It’s a brief period of calm before warmer and wetter weather arrives by the weekend.
Thursday night, temperatures will moderate slightly as the high moves offshore and warmer air starts to flow in from the southwest. Skies will remain mostly dry, though a few light showers could sneak into northern areas late in the evening as a warm front approaches.
Overall, the Wednesday through Thursday period offers a much-needed break from unsettled weather, giving Delmarva a quiet window before an active pattern returns Friday and into the weekend.
