DELMARVA - Get ready for a taste of spring across Sussex County as a shift in the weather pattern brings milder air and increasing cloud cover late Thursday into Friday.

Thursday Evening:
A weak warm front will begin to lift northward overnight, increasing clouds across the area. Winds will shift and become more southerly, pulling in slightly warmer air. Overnight lows will range from the low to mid-30s, though a few inland areas could dip into the upper 20s under clearer skies early on. While most areas will stay dry, northern parts of Delaware could see a stray flurry.

Friday Morning:
Any early sunshine will give way to thickening clouds as another, stronger warm front pushes in from the west. Despite the cloud cover, temperatures will trend upward thanks to a southerly breeze, with highs reaching the lower to mid-60s across inland Sussex County and holding closer to the upper 50s along the beaches.

Friday Afternoon & Evening:
As the stronger front edges closer, the chance for scattered light showers increases — especially late in the day and around the evening commute. Rainfall is expected to be light and spotty, but bring a jacket or umbrella just in case. Winds will remain southerly, helping to keep temperatures mild through the evening, with overnight lows Friday night in the mid-40s to low 50s.

Looking ahead, the real warm-up arrives Saturday, with highs soaring into the 70s and potentially hitting 80°F in some inland areas. Beach towns will stay cooler but still enjoy a mild breeze and temps in the 60s. Though a brief dip in temperatures may occur Saturday night, Sunday continues the spring-like trend before a cold front brings rain and possibly thunderstorms Monday.
